Dijon, France

Well, after our visit to Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises, Dijon, our second destination of the day, had a high bar to impress us... and I'm pleased to say that we were not disappointed.

Again, using the Park4Night app we found a suitable place to park the motorhome adjacent to a miltary installation so it felt very safe to leave our home on wheels. We found that there was a bus and tram stop directly next to where we had parked, however we opted for our favourite form of transport - our feet. So we turned and headed towards the centre of the old town (a theme for our travels).

Again, similar to Troyes, the streets were narrow with pretty wooded framed building on both sides. Where the spaces opened up in to squares, these were very grand and steeped in history. Gorgeous grand stone buildings, museums and cathedrals dominated the skyline above us. We spent a couple of hours or so just wandering aroung the city with no specific plan or strategy. Just the way we like it. We found many treasures in street art, sculptures, museums and street after street of shops containing striking paintings in all forms. The other product domiating the tourist areas was mustard. There were all sorts of flavours, many of which sounded quite peculiar to me, but I'm sure they were made to cater for the modern generations demanding diversity and innovation.

It was a pure blue sky day so the intermittant shade offered by the buildings was quite welcomed during our walk about. Sadly, all too soon, it was time to turn tail and head towards our next city and our overnight stop.
