The joy of discovering Norway continues...

After our night in Drobak, we headed north to collect fuel and supplies at Norway’s capital, Oslo.  However, on completing our pitstop, we quickly decided that neither of us wanted to explore another huge city so gave Oslo a miss. It turned out later in our trip that many people thought that was a mistake... but we were happy to make mistakes, as it often leads to some really great adventures.

Having left Oslo behind us and discovered many enormous engineering projects to connect the coastal towns with the capital. So as we weaved through single carriageway we plumped for a freedom stop on the southern coast of Norway. As it came to the end of our driving day, we settled on a diversion to one of the many islands and arrived at Flekkeroy.

We arrived at Flekkeroy mid-afternoon and parked up and immediately went for a wander on the closest pathway that led towards the sea. On emerging from the coastal forest, we found ourselves in a deserted patch of rock and beach. It was stunning, unspoilt and apart from the noise of the coastal birds, it was silent. The tranquility was incredible.

After soaking in the sights, we continued our walk around the rugged coast and back through some thick forest on and off paths. We did manage to have to ‘explore’ a new route but eventually found our way back to the motorhome.

The following morning we decided to head away from the motorhome in the opposite direction to our previous explore and we stumbled onto a stunning little marina and, what we presumed to be, holiday homes.

As we really needed to be back on the road, we enjoyed another moment of peace and calm before heading back to the highway and further west before the turn north.
