Gothemburg, Sweden

Having arrived in the small hours of the morning we quickly found the nearest free place to park up that we were permitted to sleep. Thankfully for me, this was only a kilometer from where we disembarked.

When we awoke a few hours later, fairly rested, we decided that the best way to explore the city was going to be by bike as the parking looked few and far between and we were reasonably close already.

Having offloaded the bikes we quickly established that there was a cycle track that we could follow, off the road, right in to the heart of the city. When we arrived, we found ourselves surrounded by brand clothing stores, popluar fast food joints and a few pieces of water thrown in to the mix. However, rather than retail therapy, Sarah found that there was an exhibition of Banksy artworks currently displayed in the city. For us Bristolians, this was a must see.

For those of you not aware of the genius of the Bristol born artist, Banksy, you must Google search and admire the power of his social commentary as well as his artistic flair. I believe that the artist belongs amongst the greats that we have seen throughout history - why not, he sums up the sentiments of a whole generation with his portrayal of political perspectives.

The exhibition was brilliant. I saw many pieces up close that I have not seen before, plus got close to many I had admired from afar.

Soon enough, it was time to get on the road north towards Norway and the next country on our Scandanavian journey.
