Following the absorbing visit to Prague, we again headed northwest towards home.

Hercules Monument, Kassel, Germany

Sarah had found photos and information on Kassel, Germany, and we found that it was conveniently located for the time that we wanted to spend travelling. We found a free stopover at the Hercules Monument at the top of the hill overlooking Kassel.

We arrived shortly before the sun set and were stunned by how far the view stretched in the late afternoon sunshine. The monument, waterfalls, pools and stairways were incredible. Sadly, as the fountains etc. were not running we missed out on seeing this monument come alive with the sound and vision of moving water, however, the place was still a marvel to design and detail.

Soon after arriving the sun set across the picturesque monument so we returned to rest up for the night before we again pushed on towards home.
