Norre Vorupor, Denmark

Having left the busy town of Aarhus, we headed towards the north-western coast of Denmark intending to head towards the Guy National Park as the beaches and landscape looked amazing.

Having passed a couple of potential places to camp for free, we decided that the forest areas that we had originally identified were full of swarms of bugs - this was a serious put off. Instead we decided to continue heading towards the coast and Vorupor quickly seemed a good place to check out. We chose to drive through the small town and it seemed quiet, relaxed and had a surfer vibe to it. We saw the official campsite, it was enormous… and packed. An easy decision to drive straight on passed… what a great move it turned out to be.

Having passed on through the main buildings, we headed out on the small road back to the highway and found a series of carparks, some of which had no camping signs. We have a policy not to camp where it was obviously forbidden as we do not think this is fair on the local community. However, the last carpark had no signs, and a handful of campers and motorhomes, so we set ourselves up for the night and walked the short distance back in to town.

The sun setting over the pier at Vorupor, Denmark

Vorupor treated us to a pretty sunset and great sounds provided by a man playing a couple of handpans. The sound was a relaxed and magical, especially with the backdrop of the sea, beach and just a few small groups of friends enjoying the setting sun together.

We sat and watched while the sun set and the fishermen tried, unsuccessfully, to bring in a catch from the sea. It was a lovely moment in time.

The following morning we were greeted with the sun shining so we pulled our things back to their travelling spots and got on the road heading to the northern most point in Denmark.
