Rennepont & Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises, Champagne Region, France

After visiting Troyes, France, for the day, we ventured away from the city. We had already decided that we fancied staying locally and that a vineyard or farm would be our first choice. We were willing to accept that we had to stay on a proper site, but we thought we aim a little higher for this stop on the journey.

With the use of the Camperstop app, we located a farm/vineyard (that turned out to be a farm) in a small village in the champagne region of France.

Rennepont, France

Rennepont Camperstop is one of the nicest settings that we have stayed on since embarking on our travels. The couple that run the B&B, Gite, Event Venue and the tiny site (for only 4 motorhomes) were so warm and friendly. More than I could say for their dog - who barked so loud I could no hear myself think whilst I was trying to converse in French to our host.

Our hosts had kindly offered for us to take a look around the lovely old buildings at our leisure as they were rightfully proud of their home and business. The buildings had been wonderfully restored to accommodate guests as well as conferences and weddings. It was all so tranquil.

As we were in the famous wine producing region, we asked for a recommendation from our hosts who pointed us towards the local village of Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises and a small family run vineyard and shop.

As we left the site in the morning, we headed in the direction that we had been told, figuring that we would try to find the recommendation. As we approached the village it was very appealing with a monument to Charles De Gaulle in the shape of a double cross. It was very impressive. So after a quick visit to the Office-de-Tourisme we located the farm/vineyard that we had come to find. However, the walk around the village was a real treat too. A fantastic and unlikely gem.

When we arrived and the farm shop we were greeted with a warm smile and offered a seat at the bar where we sampled a few different champagnes and liquors. After purchasing 9 bottles to take with us, we felt that we really should get on the road as we had two more cities to visit that day.
