Salzburg, Austria

Well... when we set off from Munich, Germany, we had aimed to cross Austria and be in Slovenia by nightfall. However, as the journey continued, we felt that a stop in Salzburg, Austria, sounded like music to our ears (like the pun?). We had originally planned a brief stop with a walk around the city, but the sights quickly drew us in so we searched for a nearby campsite to stop for the night.

We settled on Panorama Camping as it sounded like the facilities etc. were good, and we were not dissappointed. However, the real selling point was the view, given away by the name. Often we find the name and location do not line up, but this site was the exception. We had the most amazing view from our pitch, even if it was a little pricey and made a dent in our budget.

Once we settled on a pitch, we quickly got the moutain bikes off the back of the motorhome and followed the route suggested by our hosts following the rivers right in to the centre of Salzburg. Again, we found that the city was very bike friendly and toured around the city on bike and foot. As the darkness rolled in we headed back out of the city and caught some views of the city lighting up. It looked incredible, particularly the homes and attractions up in the highest reaches of the mountains.

As we had packed the bikes back on to the motorhome the rain set in, exactly as predicted, so had showers and then turned in for the night. Regrettably, the noise of the precipitation didn't afford us much sleep.

Next stop Slovenia?
