Wells Next The Sea, UK

So, for our first experience of camping in Norfolk we stayed on a site recommended by our friend that joined us for this leg of our travels. She had heard all about The Brickyard just outside Peterstone. This place was well known to be secluded and we even hd to phone the owners in order to get directions as it was not easy to find - but WHAT a find it was. The pitches were separated by thick brush and trees and the nearest pitch to us was 15-20m away. The site was pretty wild with 1 shower and toilet that were very much exposed to the elements, but that was half the appeal.

As you can see above, we had a lovely plot encircled by tress and vegitation. We had plenty of room to spread ourselves out and enjoy the brief moment of sunshine, Each pitch came with a fire pit where we cooked the dinner for the 4 of us.

Walks from the campsite were plentiful and, as we got to to the site and set up in good time, we decided to go on a short walk to the beach. Not sure that we actually foind the right path, but as usual, the less trodden path is often more interesting. It was certainly interesting. Our first wander took in the wetlands, the beach and Lady Anne's Drive nature reserve. It was beautiful but bitterly cold winds. We weren't really prepared for the 8km walk that we had embarked on.

I was definitely left wanting to spend more time here, but no time to dawdle as we were off to our next destination. But we WILL be back to this coastline with the intention to spend more time on the bikes as the terrain is so flat and the roads bot quite and well made up.

A great introduction to Norfolk.
